1.Subsidies from the National Science and Technology Council

(1) Subsidies

  1. Subsidy for domestic experts and scholars to attend international academic conferences:
    Apply through the National Science and Technology Council’s (NSTC) “Academic Research Service Portal” six weeks prior to the conference date.
  2. Subsidy for research teams to participate in meetings of international academic organizations:
    Apply through NSTC’s “Academic Research Service Portal” two months prior to the conference date.
  3. Subsidy for inviting international technology researchers for short-term visits:
    Apply through NSTC’s “Academic Research Service Portal” two months before the guest arrives in Taiwan.
  4. Subsidy for inviting technology researchers from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau for short-term visits:
    Apply online through the “Technology Talent Recruitment and Cross-Strait Technology Exchanges” link of NSTC’s “Academic Research Service Portal” two months before the guest arrives in Taiwan.
  5. Subsidy for cross-strait science and technology conferences:
    Apply online through the “Technology Talent Recruitment and Cross-Strait Technology Exchanges” link of NSTC’s “Academic Research Service Portal” two months prior to the conference date.
  6. Subsidy for international conferences held in the country:
    • Application dates:
      Phase I: March 1-31;
      Phase II: September 1-30.
    • Announcement date for review results:
      Phase I: May 31;
      Phase II: November 30.

(2) Application procedure

Log into NSTC’s “Academic Research Service Portal” with your personal username and password at the NSTC website. Click on “Apply Online” and select the type of subsidy for which you wish to apply. After logging into the system, click on “Apply for New Project.” After confirming your personal information, you can proceed with the online application. The application procedure is completed after the application documents are organized and compiled by the school online and transferred to MOST.

2.Conference Subsidy from the Engineering and Technology Promotion Center, Ministry of Science and Technology

(1) Application dates:

Visit the Engineering and Technology Promotion Center website to complete an online application and issue an official document to the center no later than 30 days prior to the event date.

(2) Completing the application form:

Download the related form from the NTU Office of the Secretariat, complete the form, have the form approved with seal by the applicant’s department supervisor and dean, and submit the document to the Office of the Secretariat for submission to the center.

3.Subsidies from the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education (MOE) provides subsidies for international academic and educational exchange activities.

(1) Subsidies

  1. International academic conferences, workshops, or academic lectures held in Taiwan.
  2. Education fairs, recruitment promotional activities, or inter-university academic conferences held abroad.
  3. Other international academic and educational exchange activities approved by MOE.

(2) Application procedure

  1. Complete the application form (available for download in the related forms section at the Office of the Secretariat website).
  2. Supporting materials to be attached (three copies required):
    (a) Event proposal; (b) budget application form; (c) event preliminary evaluation form; and (d) an official invitation letter from the inviting organization (on request from MOE), if the applicant is invited to attend/conduct exchange activities abroad.
  3. After the aforementioned documents are approved with seal by the department supervisor and dean, the applicant then sends the application to the Office of the Secretariat for submission to MOE.

(3) Application period:

Applications are accepted twice a year during the following periods; late applications (postmarked by the due date) will not be accepted.

  1. March 15-April 30:
    This applies to events that take place between July 1 and December 31of the same year.
  2. September 15-October 31:
    This applies to events that take place between January 1 and June 30 of the following year.Please allow 2-3 working days for the above application.
