New Book Lecture on Home or Homeland: Moving In and Out of Taiwan, 1600s-2000s. Taiwan is an island of migrants and immigrants who arrived throughout different historical periods from European colonization, the Zheng dynasty, the Qing dynasty, Japanese colonization, to the Nationalist government. Migration studies in Taiwan covers a wide range of topics, including migration policies, nationality law, population change, immigrant adaptation, and immigrant associations, historical accounts, and literature. Selecting 1-2 topics from the book, this lecture provides a longitudinal and in-depth overview of migration studies in Taiwan.
